2023
ENHANCING EXPERTISE WITH OUR TRAINING DEPARTMENT

At Paint Expert, we’re dedicated to continually improving our service to customers. Recognising the importance of ongoing education, we’ve expanded our head office team to include a specialised Training Manager. This role is focused on upskilling our member stores, ensuring they lead the industry in paint service excellence and expertise. Our commitment to superior training guarantees that every customer receives the highest level of professional guidance and support, firmly establishing us as experts in the paint industry.

2021
EST HARDWARE AFFILIATION

In line with being market leaders, we identified a need to have a stronger offering in the hardware space to support our new Plascon Paint Expert Store concept. With this in mind, we entered into an agreement with EST Building Group, who have over 800 affiliated retail stores in SA and SADC region. This new affiliation offers several business synergies which include the consolidation of hardware structures within the Plascon Paint Expert, empowering our small and medium independent building and hardware retail members to compete successfully and deliver higher value to the end consumer.

2020
PLASCON PAINT EXPERT

Paint Club stores incorporate the Plascon Paint Expert branding into their store universe, showing-casing our stores as the destination stores of choice when it comes to paint and allied products in South Africa, and backed up and endorsed by South Africa’s leading paint manufacturer, Plascon SA.

2018
RE-BRANDING

Paint Club underwent a re-branding and arrived at the current cutting-edge look and feel. Paint Club continues to recruit members and delight consumers all over South Africa.

2017
59 MEMBERS NATIONWIDE

In 2017 Gary van der Merwe and the Paint Club members purchased the Club, after Mike Christie sadly passed away. At this juncture Paint Club had become a force to be reckoned with, with 59 members nationwide.

2008
PAINT CLUB FOUNDED

Paint Club was founded by Mike Christie, the ex-MD of Plascon, along with Mike Parsons, the retired Plascon Sales Director, after identifying an opportunity in the market to bond exclusive Plascon stockists into a unique buying group, offering these trade stalwarts the benefits of group buying power and a unified marketing approach. The Paint Club started with only 10 member paint stores.
