We hate to jump on a worthy bandwagon but after a very agreeable break, like many of you, the Currency team are also in the market for a month light on booze.
Our pick for this week:
Lautus De-Acoholised range
From R94.99 to R144.99 (depending on varietal), Woolworths
Why we love it:
Cheers to de-alcoholised wine, especially in Joburg, where water is no longer a given. With the Lautus range on-hand you’ll be neither dehydrated nor disappointed, as great care was taken in removing the alcohol from these wines. And while the ministry of water and sanitation might continue to make more bad decisions in 2025, thankfully we won’t have to deal with a hangover – small mercies.
Sparkling wine: Aromas of white peach, citrus blossom and fresh apple, the added sparkle delivers fine, lively bubbles, contributing to an elegant finish.
Savvy white: Showcasing a pretty scent of gooseberry, capsicum and citrus, the delightful palate is underpinned by sumptuous tropical fruit and lime flavours with fresh acidity.
Rosé: An elegant palate shows a touch of sweetness, finishing fresh with well-balanced acidity, which is the perfect marriage with a nose of sweet redberry fruit and floral notes.
Savvy red: An elegant palate on this red is underpinned by fine tannin and a juicy yet subtle fruit. You’ll note pure red and black berry fruit flavours, with a touch of oak on the nose.
